Real Madrid Baloncesto has been the last to confirm its participation in the EuroLeague, after Olympiacos, Panathinaikos, Barcelona, Baskonia, Efes, Fenerbahçe, Maccabi, Zalgiris, Milán, Bayern, Asvel and CSKA had already confirmed their participation. The agreement is closed, although it will not be signed and officially announced until after the presidential elections in the white house. Real Madrid, recent continental sub-champion against Olympiacos, was the only one of the 13 shareholders of the EuroLeague that was missing to confirm its participation. The deadline for continuing in this group ended on June 30. Asvel, Fenerbahçe and Madrid were the last to sign. The agreement with Real Madrid strengthens the position of the EuroLeague in the conversations it maintains with the NBA to unite resources for a future joint competition. The arrival of Spanish Chus Bueno as CEO of the European organization has allowed to rebuild the bridges that seemed to be dynamited between the two parties a few months ago. The idea now is to move forward on the same path, as Bueno explained in the recent Final Four held in Athens: "Fragmentation dilutes value and creates friction, and that's bad for business. We want to maximize that opportunity. Whether it's an association, a joint venture, a merger… That's what we're talking to the NBA. If we really want to carry out this project, we should find a solution. And if, for any reason, it doesn't materialize, the EuroLeague has a solid plan. We have a vision, a project, an income strategy, a rights and marketing strategy; we have everything. But if the NBA wants to sit down and explore a joint possibility, we are open and we will take full advantage of the opportunity".
